The second volume of my blog about Momus’ albums, life and career is set to be published by P&H Books, an independent publisher in Glasgow, Scotland.
Folktronics covers the life and songs of singer-songwriter Momus during his time at Le Grand Magistery and beyond, from 20 Vodka Jellies in 1996 to Joemus in 2008.
It includes discussion of his legal issues over a song about electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos, and the subsequent Kickstarter-prefiguring solution of Stars Forever. It also details his success as a songwriter/Svengali for several singers in Japan, including top ten hits, and joins him on legendary tours of America and Europe, before a forensic examination of the songs on his own “Berlin Trilogy”, Oskar Tennis Champion, Otto Spooky and Ocky Milk.
“I recommend this entertaining account, which has even taught me things about my own songs.”
Nicholas Currie (Momus)
“I’m delighted to see the return of John Robinson’s engrossing, brilliant analyses of every Momus record since the mid-’80s.”
Grant Morrison
